There are some arguments, of course, that could be offered against a simple comparison of timelines. However, given the political realities of hurricanes making landfall around New Orleans, I find it amazing that Obama delayed a visit to this area. In light of a levee being breached, massive flooding, and torrential rain damage, one really has to wonder whether political gamesmanship made him ignore these people for political points.
Additionally, President Bush flew over the day before he visited. (Note the wiki timeline below: it seems to indicate a Bush visit on 1 September, but I could not corroborate that.)
29 aug morning 215 am – Hurricane Isaac, Cat 1 at landfall 2 (final landfall)
29 aug morning 610 am – hurricane Katrina, Cat 3 at landfall 2 (final landfall)
2 September President Bush visits area early day = time lapse of 102 hours, ~4.25 days
3 September President Obama visits area late day = time lapse of 132 hours, ~5.5 days
