Thanks for saying you'll be a part of Action August -- this month is going to be huge.

I wanted to send along a few resources that will help you make the most of your August.

First: Here's the official Action August calendar -- check it out to stay in the loop on the big national days of action, and to see all the important events going on near you:

I'm also sending along the Action August hub (go ahead and bookmark it, so you can keep coming back to it). It's fully decked out with materials to help plan house parties, write letters to the editor, and make sure your member of Congress hears from you and your neighbors during the congressional recess. Plus, you can come to this site to report back and let us know how your work is going.

If you want any evidence that Congress needs to be reminded of why they were sent to Washington, just listen to House Speaker John Boehner. He's been on TV lately saying that Congress should be judged on the number of laws they can repeal -- not the legislation they can pass to improve people's lives.

Now, that's just nuts -- but that's who is helping set the agenda in Washington.

This is a great opportunity to take a stand this August and let Congress know that -- on issues like immigration reform, climate change, and gun violence, to name a few -- their constituents expect action.

There are plenty of ways to get involved no matter where you live, and no matter how much time you have to give -- so take a look at the new calendar and materials and see what you'd like to get involved in:
