You know what's sad? People who are truly free, who actually believe they're free, ignore this kind of stupidity until the megalomaniacs who make this shit up fall into the very holes they've dug for themselves. Except that most people who talk about freedom really don't realize they already bow to those people when they wait until a second entity tells them they can or can't do something. If you believe you're free, you ignore anything or anyone who conflicts with the rights and general equality of natural law. Our government exists for one purpose; our government was created to honor natural law.

This is just another sign that while the general population won't suffer (as much as the fringe websites would like us to believe because even they have things they want to sell us), the socialist aspect of our government is on the path toward imminent collapse.

Income. Fringe websites constantly talk about the coming financial tornado/earthquake/tsunami that will wipe out your and my (?) savings. Understand that since the seventies the fed has been printing money. First to shore up the cost of a foreign war (VN), then to shore up the economy when it wrongly thought its policies were working. Just that something else was the cause of natural market fluctuations. Not because of the Fed's misunderstanding of markets.

Fed Liberals were the kids who could never leave well enough alone. The ones who would tinker with a small engine when it was running well. When there wasn't anything wrong with it. Not realizing bad gasoline just needed to run through the system or be removed to be replaced with better gas.

Property. The article above points to the very short time socialists and communists believe they have to try to convince the middle class it should listen to them. Ironically, they're trying to use the court system to protect socialism and communism. That's the reason for their attempt to pack the courts.

Free speech. Since the whole idea of self censoring "hate" speech, I've heard more and more of it than I ever have. More jokes, more plain old backlash. Mostly coming from self proclaimed democrats. Look at social media. Read the comments sections of articles. The average person doesn't buy it much less adhere to the idea of hate speech. Doesn't matter if people lean left of right. I think everyone believes it applies to everyone else, not them. So we got that goin' for us...

Self protection. More guns now or less? Self explanatory.

Doomed I tells ya. Doooooooomed

I have never been the pessimist in these matters. Well, less so when dems hold the power since it takes rinos to get most of dems' dealios passed. Something's happened here in the liberal state of Minnesota; in this little town I live near we've now got two, not one, new indoor shooting ranges. Never would have happened without The Big 0 in office. I also understand there are places in this great nation where the libs have a gestapo boot firmly on the head of local government.

What kills us are regulations. And this misunderstood need to depend upon our judiciary system to resolve things we as adults ought to settle all on our own.

I live in a place that votes very conservative in a state which is guided by its largest twin cities and a little hokum believing place we call Duluth.(Conservatives call it "Deluded" but that's another story.) Funny thing is, you have to make friends and make peace with the people around you. The people in your life. So that means I have very democratic friends. They know where I stand but they also know I respect their views. You know, some of them are coming around to our ways of seeing things.

I consciously engage in a personal optimism. It's the way I live my life. I look for solutions even when they're temporary. Naturally I prefer the permanent solution, but most people just don't think that way. It's too much. If they see ahead to an upcoming problem, and we can figure out a way to get over that hump, that's a win as far as I'm concerned.

There is a question one must ask in life. It is the most important question there is. Conservatives tend to ask it without a second thought but they ask it in pragmatic ways. This style of inquiry confounds the democratic mind. The reason is the democratic mind thinks of a potential utopian state but not how to get there or even if that condition is really possible in the real world. Back on the heads side of that same coin, a conservative asks the question on the quest toward discovery of the next step toward "better than now". The conservative thinks, dog is escaping the yard, mebbe build a fence? Get a leash? A liberal democrat might say, that type of dog is bad; ban that breed of dog.

Ron, absolutely love the humor. Very Happy Those folks have very short term memories.

The question? Simple. We ask ourselves:

If I do X, what could happen next?

Of course the joke answer to this question is Y. haha

I live my life also by this simple statement you made
"I consciously engage in a personal optimism." That is the whole reason I am still here today (alive)
However when it comes to all things political..... I have little hope, our young people have been brain washed. When I was young my grand father god rest his soul, was a Dem. He showed me a quote and I cannot remember who said it.
It went something like this... "we will gut America from within referring to commieism... forgive my poor spelling !!
we now have a generation who thinks America is bad and the great evil in the world.... Hell they even believe in man made global warming. To me it's just plain arrogance to think we know more than mother nature..... At this time in human history Man cannot fathom anything greater than himself.... We have truly lost all sense for perspective.
History always repeats itself if we can't learn anything from history

I believe ya Ron.  It's optimism that's made anything happen.  Otherwise we wouldn't have you or lots of others.  Reagan was an optimist.  He was also a pragmatist.  The founders were optimists.  It's said they only had thirty percent of the population in agreement with their views and intentions.  Which is fine with me.  I can do a lot with thirty percent.  Especially when the pessimists remain inert.

But they aren't.  For too long they've been the most active political engine of the generations ahead of me. So by the time this country got to us gen-x'ers, it had gotten pretty bad.  Easy to see how government has gotten control and then out of control.    Now we're stuck with it.

Do you know what I think the solution is? Ignore the stupid laws.  Just ignore em.  Ignore them the way we see the left ignore them every day.  The way their EPA and federal agencies ignore state and constitutional law and the rights of The People.   Maybe it'll become a movement.  A kind of libertarian solidarity.  Call it the new equality.

The mobs, whether they're legit or rental groups already ignore the laws.  But they do it for attention. They ignore whichever laws don't suit them and then their leaders cry when the general public has given up on them.  Boy who cried wolf?

Then they dump illegals all over and everywhere and we're supposed to be compassionate.  Illegals and refugees.  Other than a few bad apples most of them seem to be bending to our American ways.  And trust me.  There is likely not much larger population from parts of Africa being dumped than in the twin cities and St Cloud Minnesota.  There's good and there's bad and that's with everybody.    And I know what's afoot in terms of the left handpicking refugees from very particular parts of the world to bring here.  The left does it out of pure hate of what this nation is and what it will be long after these idiots are out of office.   Too bad for the left.  Nothing they do seems to break the constitutional spirit of those who truly understand what being a U.S. citizen means.  What our laws mean.  What natural law is and how the very basic proclamation of retaining personal rights exists and has existed in not just our federal constitution, but our state constitutions which 13 times preceded it.  Oh, and in other preceding documents like the Magna Carta.

I've had relatives tell me witnessing the near-end of Hitler and the Nazis unfold during their time was almost cathartic.

The left wing media dropped a collective dookie on the white house lawn when they heard the results of the elections in the UK.  Granted the definition of the conservative right in the UK isn't what we would define it, it is going in the better direction.   Nothing is ever perfect in life.  But much of it will be acceptable if not merely tolerable.  Not unlike a marriage.  A long one.
